About the role
The Manager Rail Systems Modelling role at V/Line involves leading a team of experts to develop and maintain rail systems models using software like RailSys. This position plays a crucial role in planning and optimising current and future V/Line services and operations, providing specialist advice on network configuration, and supporting strategic service planning.
**Key accountabilities include**:

- Lead strategic modelling: Shape the development and maintenance of comprehensive rail systems models, ensuring strategic alignment and operational efficiency.
- Optimise resources : Coordinate work plans and resource allocation to meet critical deadlines and project goals.
- Enhance infrastructure: Conduct rigorous scenario testing for rail infrastructure enhancements and develop robust reliability models.
- Mentor and innovate: Support planners in adopting new technologies and innovative methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee complex analysis: Guide complex analysis, rail and coach planning, and provide strategic advisory services with the highest level of integrity.

About you
In this role, you will showcase exceptional leadership, strategic influence, and a deep understanding of the transport sector and Victorian Government priorities. You will excel in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in rail operational planning at a management level, partnering with government stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the transport sector and Victorian Government context and priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence strategic direction and drive change.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and management skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence diverse groups.
- Highly developed conceptual, commercial, and analytical skills, with a record of providing strategic advice to senior management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

**Qualifications**:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
