Rail Design Manager

We are looking for experienced and aspiring Rail Assistant Design Managers, Design Managers and Package Managers to join our established Rail team in Victoria. This role will provide the opportunity to work on major rail projects including Melbourne Airport Rail Link, Regional Rail Revival, Geelong Fast Rail, Metro Tunnel, Suburban Rail Loop, and Western Program Alliance (WPA).
This role will suit a track, civil, structural, or signalling engineer experienced in the design and design management of major railway projects delivered by Rail Projects Victoria.
Additionally, other rail related disciplines with an appreciation of rail systems, interfaces and integration would be suitable.
You may be a specialist design manager in one discipline, or experienced across multiple disciplines.
Duties & Responsibilities:

- Providing sound and effective leadership on major rail projects by providing direction and technical advice
- Coordinating delivery of integrated engineering design packages
- Identifying and working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders
- Identifying system and subsystem interfaces
- Development & management of project scope through requirements management activities
- Delivery of packages following management of change and engineering change processes
- Ensuring adequate provision, deployment and management of technical resources
- Driving project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring that client delivery is above expectation
- Ensuring that effective financial and project management controls are in place
- Relevant engineering degree with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation
- 10+ years post graduate experience for assistant design manager role, 15+ years desired for the Design and Package manager role
- Significant experience in engineering within the rail environment, preferably in the disciplines of track, structures, signalling, or other rail related disciplines with an appreciation of rail systems, interfaces and integration.
- Previous experience of managing engineering teams on large rail projects, preferably leading multidisciplinary design teams within a design and engineering consultancy environment
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex rail infrastructure projects, preferably at the feasibility, concept, reference, or IFC design level.
- Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management experience and the ability to build credible, collaborative but influential relationships both internally and externally
