Are you a recent STEM graduate eager to kickstart your career in the rail industry? We are seeking a motivated Rail Systems Modelling Analyst to support V/Line’s mission of delivering safe and efficient rail services. In this dynamic entry-level role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of advanced rail systems models using cutting-edge software like RailSys. This is a unique opportunity to engage in strategic service planning, analyse operational data, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance our rail network.

**Key accountabilities include**:

- **Skill Development**: Acquire skills to support the design of strategic service plans (timetables).
- **Data Management**: Collect, cleanse, and analyse operational data for decision-making.
- **Model Development**: Assist in building and validating rail network infrastructure models.
- **Statistical Support**: Contribute to the development of mathematical methods and costing models.
- **Scenario Testing**: Conduct tests for infrastructure enhancements and operational plans.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Identify solutions to enhance processes and reduce costs.

**Knowledge, skills, and experience**:

- Proven experience in quantitative analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Familiarity with R/SQL and data visualisation systems.

**Personal attributes**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex and politically sensitive environments.
- High resilience to meet tight deadlines.
- Proactive in identifying issues and suggesting resolutions.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment screening including, probity (police) checks, and Australian entitlement to work. Employees of V/Line are required to maintain a valid Working with Children Check Victoria (Employee) for the duration of employment.

The remuneration range for this position starts at $78,000 inclusive of superannuation and upwards based on experience and overall suitability to the role.
