Testing & Commissioning Leader - Rail Systems

Your Opportunity
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Testing and Commissioning Leader to take responsibility of developing a new market offering for the Victorian Metro Rail business in Australia.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Supporting our Clients with the planning and delivery of systems integration and testing & commissioning of their major metro rail projects.
- Drive excellence and lesson’s learned to enable a sufficient level of tracking and monitoring of the Testing and Commissioning phase of projects
- Work with Clients to establish an appropriate approach for the testing and commissioning strategy, reviewing plans and maintaining alignment to Contract specifications.
- Identify and communicate specification and drawing inconsistencies or queries, or other problems that may impact Testing and Commissioning
- Establish a clear understanding of applicable standards and codes related to the project and the discipline of work being done.
- Review and establish clear understanding of interfacing designs
- What can you bring to the team?
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of ten years of experience in Rail Systems delivery that includes: management of interfaces both within the Systems and with other rail elements such as civils construction, rail operations, Rail System Assurance Management and a high exposure to managing Rail Systems Testing and Commissioning;
- Proven successful leadership of a testing and commissioning effort for a multidisciplinary rail transit project, either brownfield or new-build, but involving critical technical and operational interfaces
- Experience of preparation, detail review and provision of constructive comments on systems integration technical submittals of various types, including:
- Design Integration Plan
- Systems Integration Plan
- Interfaces Management Plan
- Testing and Commissioning plans, procedures and reports
- Verification and validation documentation
- Handover to Operations plan
- Experience of the successful organisation, chairing and reporting of meetings involving many stakeholders to review project situations, determine Testing and Commissioning issues, and agree processes to resolution.
- Experience of the successful progression of workstreams to resolve integration issues, within several disparate sub-systems, to achieve an integrated solution.
- Ability to take a high-level view of project testing and commissioning strategy, identifying the proper organisational approach to design and system maturity, testing priority and sequence, verification of requirements, personnel and equipment requirements, management of external stakeholders and all the other critical aspects of effective testing and commissioning management.
- Self-motivated and self-managing, requiring mínimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to communication progress and issues accurately at all levels of the Consultant, Contractor and Client organisation.
- Ability to work with others and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with inspectors, contractors, consultants, the public, third parties, clients and government officials. Above all, demonstrated ability to engage positively with all parties to influence their efforts constructively.
- Ability to work with the project leadership team to influence the methods of project delivery to ensure that systems integration principles and processes are observed in a constructive approach.
- Experience in design and installation of rail systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to write concise and comprehensive professional/technical/contract letters and reports.
