**About the opportunity**

The Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is seeking to engage an experienced Manager in Rail Safety and Occupational, Health and Safety. This 12 month parental leave cover position will be responsible for promoting a safe work culture and the coordination of all Rail Safety, Occupational, Health and Safety aspects of activities undertaken by project staff and contractors during all phases of the project lifecycle. A key focus of this role is to support the ‘Linewide Works Package’ development and delivery teams within SRLA, and ultimately the delivery contractors and operators.

The responsibility of the role will be for the design and construction of the rail infrastructure, specifically, the role will lead the rail safety systems development and implementation for this package of work. A key expectation is that you will provide oversight, expert advice, input and influence from your experience across Constructability, Maintainability, Operability and Deliverability of Rail Infrastructure and / or Rolling stock from Major Rail Projects or Rail Operator operations.

**About you**

You will be a highly focused and driven person who is passionate about contributing to the delivery of public rail infrastructure, working within a high-performing project team to drive exceptional outcomes. You will be qualified in OH&S, Rail Safety, Construction, Business, or a similar discipline with experience working within major projects. You will enjoy a fast paced, performance focused workplace where you will have the opportunity to work autonomously and develop your career. Some of the responsibilities are as follows:

- Develop and implement a strategic approach to provide oversight and coordinated management of the SRLA Rail Safety Approach. This will include supporting the development of a framework that will be utilised to support SRLA’s assurance activities leading the interface between and SRLA and contractors.
- Anticipate and address potentially significant safety and rail safety risks associated with managing a multi
- billion-dollar railway and contracts with a very high level of public scrutiny.
- Oversee the implementation and management of appropriate auditing processes in relation to rail safety plans, processes, and practices across all relevant agencies/contractors.
- Proactively maintain existing strong partnerships and ensure strategic coordination with Accredited Rail Operators and regulators (ONRSR & WorkSafe) to gain support for safety and project decisions.
- Provide high quality, technical, strategic and operational advice to SRLA Director, Safety, Senior Manager, Rail Safety and Line Wide Package Director.
