**Skills and Experiences**:
The Role
The purpose of the IT Technical Officer assist in the management and design of the IT infrastructure (provision, maintenance and support). Support the research being conducted at the Black Dog Institute through implementation of organisation wide platforms as well as knowledge transfer of technical, research, clinical and operational activities. Success in this role requires a key focus on a strategic view of technology, project management and communication skills (written and oral) for a range of stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilties
- Support the IT Infrastructure Lead and any external vendor partner in the optimisation of the architecture of the Institute’s digital products, with the goal of increasing performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Communicate with UNSW in relation to the management of BDI’s AWS environments, escalate issues and raise service requests.
- AWS Infrastructure
- Work closely with UNSW IT regarding IT infrastructure security, governance, issues and troubleshooting
- Solution deployments and testing.
- Support Research Lead for the end-to-end project execution of digital technology-enabled research studies conducted at the Institute.
- Infrastructure solutions:
- Provide cost estimate on infrastructure solutions
- Review solution provided by third-party developers
- Infrastructure Project prioritisation
- Infrastructure documentations
- Maintain and support research studies and digital products currently implemented, ensuring uptime and delivery of required functionality throughout the life of the study.
- Liaise with collaborating researchers, clinicians and other stakeholders to keep them informed of progress and facilitate their ongoing and effective engagement.
- Assist in ensuring that Business Systems, upgrades, and improvements follow best practices, that the services remain scalable and reliable as business needs change.
- Support the resolution of infrastructure incidents with the aim to return the service to users within the agreed service levels.
- Work with the researcher and relevant third-party vendor regarding project quality as well as technical support.
Skills & Experience Required
1. Tertiary qualification in Information Technology (or equivalent).
2. 3+ years of experience with IT infrastructure, operational services engineering and managing research support systems and platforms.
4. Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain IT infrastructure and operational services.
5. Demonstrated ability to work with MS products like Office, Microsoft Visual Studio.net, C#, MSSQL, HTML etc.
