**The Role**
The EL 2 (S&T Level 6) Discipline Leader - Weapons Systems will be accountable to plan and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business objectives. They will set work tasks aligned with the strategic objectives and communicate expected outcomes. They are accountable for achieving outcomes and progressing work, reviewing team and project performance and focusing on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

- Establish collaborative opportunities with Australia’s leading scientists within the Science & Technology Enterprise on priority science areas for Defence, building and sustaining effective relationships with a network of internal and external partners across academia, industry and Government.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, lead the development of initiatives including the provision of high-level technical and administrative advice within one or more scientific fields within Defence.

**About our Team**
Sensors and Effectors leads the impetus for innovation within Australian force operations by providing science and technology advice about equipment, personnel and processes.

Sensors and Effectors Division (SED), as part of DST Group, applies science and technology to the capability analysis, development and operation of Weapon and Combat Systems relevant to the ADF. Areas of focus include weapon guidance technologies, assessment of both weapons and combat systems, tactical information exchange, physical force protection and national security to provide Defence with the ability to meet key drivers in the weapon and combat systems domain.

The Weapon Systems Technologies branch conducts scientific research and matures weapons technologies that enable ADF combat capability for precise prosecution of threats and assured delivery of effects.

The research programs include system design, modelling and experimental methods, static and dynamic laboratory testing, and field trials including flight and live fire weapon trials. This includes the conception, design and conduct of experiments, and support to experimental facilities such as captive carry pods and laboratory Hardware-in-the-Loop equipment.

The EO Sensor Discipline Leader will be required to work under guidance from the WSTS GL Discipline Leader on weapons research projects and will interact effectively with Defence clients, international partners, industry and academia.
