Reporting to the Manager, Touring Programs, you will be delivering world class immersive, surprising, personal, and authentic exhibitions to visitors across Australia. You will be responsible for increasing public access to the Museum through the co-ordination and effective administration of the Museum’s onsite temporary and travelling exhibitions that serve to educate and entertain existing and new audiences from international, metropolitan, regional, and remote locations.
**In this position your responsibilities will also include**:
- Collaborating with the Manager, Touring Programs to plan, develop and execute a forward exhibitions strategy that overlays onsite museum activities with touring programs.
- Project Manage and co-ordinate touring-specific exhibits in different formats for regional distribution.
- Administer venue bookings, action maintenance needs and arrange freight movements for touring displays.
- Organising the creation of support documentation for touring exhibitions such as installation manuals, marketing style guides, and maintenance documentation.
- Connecting with stakeholders to get buy-in, seek feedback, and provide advice and expertise on matters relating to the work.
- Develop, implement, and manage project plans, budgets, and contract administration and respond to challenges.
- Overseeing and reporting on temporary and touring program project budgets; and capturing and administering reporting metrics per internal, National Collecting Institution and Budget Portfolio Statement requirements.
- Provide information and advice in a timely manner in support of broader museum sponsorship and philanthropy initiatives, collaborating with sponsorship teams within the Museum as required.
***Key Selection Criteria**:
- Project management skills including organisational, budget development, time management and scheduling to meet delivery timelines.
- Strong organisation and administrative and computer skills.
- Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams with applied knowledge of the roles of curatorial, conservation, design, and registration staff in developing exhibitions.
- Experience Museum object handling and the installation of collection material in exhibition environments.
- Effective communication (written and verbal) and people skills with an ability to present and communicate information to a diverse range of stakeholders within the Arts & Culture, and specifically Maritime sector.
- A bachelor’s degree in museum studies, cultural heritage, or equivalent tertiary qualifications.
