WHO ARE WE

Supply + Demand offers creation, production, and consulting services for the design of shows and multimedia experiences. Our niche lies at the intersection of art, science, and technology. We create shows that combine physical and digital interactions to transform human relationships.

Our mission is to create narrative and collaborative experiences focused on the human element.

We believe in hybrid systems where the analog, digital, physical, and virtual come together to bring people closer and foster a taste for discovery and wonder.

Our collective experience serves as a springboard for exploring art, humanity, natural phenomena, and the complex systems of the environment.

Position Overview:

As a key member of the operations team, the Technical Manager will lead the coordination and delivery of multimedia systems, manage regional technical staff, and maintain quality across all touring sites. The role requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to operate independently in dynamic environments.

This is a travel-intensive role requiring frequent on-site presence at exhibition venues to manage installations, troubleshoot issues, and ensure consistent technical standards.

The ideal candidate is experienced in touring productions or live installations, thrives under pressure, and brings a proactive mindset to maintaining excellence in both technical execution and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee installation, operation, and dismantling of all technical systems at each location, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety protocols.

· Participate in advance site visits and venue evaluations to plan technical layouts and assess feasibility.

· Coordinate and execute equipment shipments, load-ins, and load-outs in collaboration with logistics and production teams.

Technical Planning & Execution

  • Develop detailed technical schedules and staffing plans for each venue and project.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of audio, video, lighting, and scenic systems across all locations.
  • Supervise the setup, calibration, and operation of technical infrastructure throughout the tour.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and decisively to maintain uninterrupted operations.

Team & Equipment Management

  • Recruit, train, and lead regional technical teams, including both staff and freelancers.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure alignment with project timelines, safety protocols, and guest experience standards.
  • Oversee regional equipment inventory, maintenance, and procurement, ensuring all assets are well-documented and operational.
  • Work with vendors and subcontractors as needed to supplement local resources.

Budgeting, Documentation & Reporting

  • Track and manage regional technical budgets, identifying risks and proposing cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including venue specs, load-in guides, and equipment manifests.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to project leadership on technical performance, issues, and recommendations.
  • Ensure all technical files are organized according to internal standards and accessible for review.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical operations for touring productions, exhibitions, or live events.
  • Expertise in multimedia systems, including video, audio, lighting, and scenic technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead regional, travel-based teams and operate independently in new venues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and standards for touring environments.
  • Willingness and availability to travel frequently and work flexible hours based on venue needs.
  • Advanced written and spoken English skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in immersive exhibitions or experiential installations.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite; experience with Vectorworks, Smartsheet, or similar tools.
