The General Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all engineering operations and activities within the organization. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to drive the growth and success of the company.

Gadaleta Steel Fabrication is the largest family owned engineering and steel fabrication company based in the Spencer Gulf, South Australia, servicing industrial and mining sector heavyweights around Australia.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the overall strategic direction for the business, aligning it with the company's goals and objectives. Provide guidance and support to the Operational Managers and Internal Finance Team in achieving business targets and driving innovation.- Team Management: Lead a team of Operational Managers and Internal Finance Team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to ensure the development and engagement of team members.- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and contracts in the engineering sector. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry leaders to expand the company's presence and market share.- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful completion within agreed-upon parameters.- Technical Expertise: Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices. Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team, assisting in complex problem-solving and decision-making processes.- Financial Management: Develop and manage the engineering business unit's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control measures. Monitor financial performance, analyse key metrics, and implement strategies to achieve profitability and growth targets.- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with engineering projects and operations. Implement effective risk management strategies and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry requirements.- Collaboration: Foster effective collaboration and communication between the Operational Managers and Internal Finance Team. Work closely with the teams to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or a related field). A master's degree or MBA is preferred.- Extensive experience (10+ years) in engineering management roles, preferably within the relevant industry sector.- Strong business acumen and a track record of successfully managing and growing engineering businesses.- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of technical professionals.- Excellent project management abilities, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.- In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and technologies.- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate contracts with clients and stakeholders.- Sound understanding of financial management principles and experience in budgeting and financial analysis.- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex situations and provide strategic solutions.- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards in the engineering industry.- Professional certifications or memberships in engineering associations are desirable.
