Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to communicate, plan, prioritise, analyse information and make decisions within a customer focused, fast paced environment. The Purchasing Officer is responsible for planning and procurement of materials and services ensuring continuous operation of the plant to increase customer satisfaction and to meet demand.

Areas of Responsibility
- Material Requirements Planning (MRP) of stocked items, raw materials and finished goods in line with strategic procurement
- Purchasing of raw materials and finished goods from local and overseas suppliers
- Create and maintain receipt routings and delivery tracking in a timely manner and before month end
- Understanding of import/export and various international shipping requirements from places such as China, Thailand, Taiwan, Europe and USA
- Update and maintain ETA’s
- Confirm and acknowledge orders
- Organise remedial action with supply on time
- Update records and all stakeholders to optimise inventories to:

- Meeting Customer and Production demand
- Demand Planning
- Meet Project requirements
- Minimise stock outs and excess inventory
- Create purchase orders according to SOX requirements
- Provide assistance to warehouse in regard to stocktake counts if required
- Maintain up-to-date item purchasing records in JDE.
- Maintain supplier/product data, certifications and compliance information.
- Check supplier and shipping invoices for accuracy
- Review invoices to ensure accuracy of charges

Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years purchasing and inventory management experience with a strong emphasis on MRP in an ERP environment.
- Strong computer skills including sound Excel spreadsheet competencies.
- Strong analytical and process orientation.
- A high level of oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in a high paced, agile, fast moving customer focused environment.
