Job Description Summary

The Project Planner is an integral member of the project team responsible for organising and controlling regional project schedules under the direction for the National Program Manager. The Project Planner will assist with schedule and resource planning to create the baseline work timelines for each project. The Scheduler will track the status progressively against the baseline timeline through the monitoring of critical path, resource plans, work completions and project variations against the baseline. The project scheduler will highlight variances to the plan and assist with identifying recovery strategies to bring the project back on track.

The position Portfolio Elements are;
1. Preparation of Regional SAM Project Schedules.

2. Tracking work status and ensure the project schedule is always up to date.

3. Provide SAM project work Schedule status reports

4. Highlight actual schedule variations to plan, identify issues and suggest solutions.

5. Provide assistance with Subcontractor resourcing and utilisation Issues.

6. Provide proactive schedule and resource management to enable client delivery KPI’s to be met or exceeded.
About the Role

Service Stream’s Telecommunications division are currently seeking a Project Planner to join our growing company.

Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time

Location: Collins Street, Melbourne

Key Responsibilities
- Organize, implement and maintain scheduling management system supporting identified projects and their plans.
- Assist to set up tasks and sub tasks to ensure satisfactory realization of project contract requirements as scheduled.
- Log project time-lines and maintain database of tasks and its status.
- Log all new information into database and provide scheduled reports for contract coordination and reporting purposes.
- Interact with customer, project staff and subcontractors to schedule work and coordinate assignments.
- Design and develop the regional project baseline schedule.
- Interact with project team and task managers to define scope of work to develop and update detailed schedules, cost information and identification of variances from original plan.
- Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas.
- Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around.
- Develop and update weekly short interval schedule working with Project Managers and their team members.
- Suggest management of risks affecting project profit, costs, schedules and client relations.
- Support project management team to maintain timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
- Assist project team to develop and maintain periodic status reports to keep management informed on project progress.
- Interact with customers, managers, operation leaders and financial controller.
- Develop project schedules in accordance with the project budget and contractual commitments.
- Ensure project schedule status is continually tracked and maintained
- Ensure program related delays are tracked in the Project Schedule
- Provide the Program Manager with provision of accurate and timely reporting.
- Manage critical path activity and assist work teams to meet committed timeframes.

About You
- Qualifications_
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering and Construction discipline is highly desirable
- Diploma in Engineering and Construction discipline is the minimum requirement
- Intermediate to Advanced level in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook & MS Project.
- Project Management qualifications or working towards certifications is highly desirable
- Experience_
- Min of 2 years’ experience working in design and/or construction project scheduling environment.
- Technical acumen in design and construction
- Experience in dealing with subcontractors
- Mature verbal and written communications skills
- Experience in developing detailed project schedules utilising a variety of software tools and techniques
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships building both internal and external.
