The Hospital Resource Coordinator at Perth Vet Specialists (PVS) is responsible for ensuring that all patients can access the appropriate clinicians and required services in an efficient manner. They also ensure that procedures for patients are scheduled and are integrated into overall patient flow.

The Hospital Resource Coordinator will be responsible for directing the flow of patients through the hospital and coordinating the order in which patients access services based on overall hospital and departmental capacity.

Reporting directly to the Clinical Lead Anesthesia and working closely with the clinical leads from each Department, this position is central to the daily operations of PVS and will be responsible for coordinating and directing the movement of patients between services, working collaboratively with clinicians and liaising with other services including surgery, anesthesia, and diagnostic imaging to schedule workflow.

This role is an integral member of the PVS operations team, working to ensure that PVS delivers the highest standard of clinical care with a patient first focus, effectively allocates resources based on need, and improves the customer experience.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Operational activities and service quality.
- Liaise effectively with clinicians and veterinary nurses to ensure the rapidly changing needs of an emergency driven referral hospital are met.
- Efficiently and effectively direct and coordinate patients through the key areas of the hospital including anaesthesia, surgery, diagnostic imaging, and transfer to and from Emergency, Critical Care, and general wards.
- Prioritise and effectively schedule procedures whilst balancing the overall conflicting demands on services based on resource allocation.
- Ensure that the procedure schedule is coordinated to maintain an efficient flow of patients through all clinical areas.
- Collaboration and Leadership.
- Work in collaboration with clinicians and veterinary nurses to achieve effective patient flow and efficient use of resources.
- Attend and coordinate daily rounds meetings each morning to ensure that there is visibility over patient status and effective movement of a patient through the hospital.
- Schedule regular meetings with department clinical leads and management to provide oversight and feedback on efficiencies and roadblocks. Actively participate in all PVS hospital meetings and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work in collaboration with the General Manager and Hospital Business Manager to identify opportunities for process improvement, increased patient care, and improved customer experience.
- Work with the Customer Service Team Lead to improve the customer experience, collaborate on customer complaints, and provide the information required for any follow up by the General Manager or Hospital Business Manager.
- Work in collaboration with each department to ensure that pending patient invoices are accurately finalised and allocated as soon as possible.
- Key Performance Indicators and PVS hospital resources (people and facilities) are fully utilised to maximise productivity.
- Create departmental visibility over patient caseload to optimise resource allocation, improve patient flow, and proactively identify potential issues.
- Participation in daily hospital rounds meetings.
- Reduced overtime costs via more efficient caseload management.

- Well-developed experience and understanding of the operation within a referral veterinary hospital with a proven ability to anticipate the needs of clinicians and veterinary nurses. This role is ideally suited to an individual who has deep experience working in a similar role in a veterinary or human health care environment or comes from a clinical background and understands how clinical caseload impacts resourcing within a hospital environment.
