**The Role**
The APS 5 General Asset Assurance Officer - SA provides support to the General Asset Assurance Team Leader by undertaking essential functions that will ensure the efficient management and completion of the Defence agreed General Asset Stocktake Program within the Southern Australian region. This position will also provide onsite stocktaking support to the West Australian and Northern Territory regions as required.
The role within the Directorate of Defence Stocktaking (DDS) requires an enthusiastic, self-starter who has the ability to contribute to all aspects of stocktake activities across Defence using systems and tools in accordance with policy and procedures. There is an element of travel by vehicle and aeroplane associated with this role. The incumbent of this position will be required to undertake frequent multi-day local and regional travel, and interstate travel.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with planning and scheduling stocktake activities;
- Conducting stocktaking and assurance activities in field training areas, warehousing or base environments;
- Performing investigations and stocktake remediation/reconciliation duties;
- Reviewing and updating policy, work practices and procedures etc. as required;
- Attending and contributing to various working groups, forums, meetings etc.; and
- Performing general stocktaking administrative tasks.

- Possess well developed communication skills, both verbal and written, for engaging key stakeholders through liaison, negotiation and consultation.
- Assist with the development of high level reports for senior Defence committees, conduct analysis of data, maintain registers, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and be able to adapt to the needs, tasks and responsibilities of the Directorate.
The position will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence’s business objectives.
