The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Strategic Research and Communication Division supports Ministerial engagement with communities, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities; and coordinates the Department’s national engagement with communities.

The Branch also designs and delivers strategic communications to promote Australia’s social cohesion, in support of priorities for Australia’s social cohesion into the future. This work is done by the Counter-Misinformation Communication and Insights Section, the Extremism Insights and Communication Section and Social Cohesion Insights and Communication Section.

**About the role**:
Want to make a difference? We’re looking for dedicated individuals, who have a genuine interest in delivering programs that will help strengthen unity in Australian society. You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary team of passionate communication specialists and analytics/insights professionals to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a range of programs.

**Key duties**:

- Work alongside a creative service provider to deliver a range of communication products such as (but not limited to) video profiles, editorials, vodcasts and education material, for an Australian wide audience, including the culturally and linguistically diverse
- Contribute to the departmental materials including briefs, talking points, reporting, policy proposals, factsheets, slide shows, and media responses
- Build partnerships with internal stakeholders, the Australian public, grass roots community organisations, peak industry bodies and other government agencies
- Effectively manage relationships with contracted suppliers and anticipate and respond to any issues
- Assist in and contribute to program planning and projects, including procurement
- Work alongside analytical teams, using their insights to guide program strategies, ensuring products and key messages resonate with key audiences.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:

- The role occupant must be able to hold and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance
- A communications background is desirable but not essential.
