The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Division and Property Branch**:
The Procurement, Property and Contracts Division within the Chief Operating Officer Group, provides strategic direction and support to the Portfolio in relation to core enabling services. The Division provides services and functions to drive procurement and property planning, sourcing and contract management, aligned with the organisation’s strategic priorities and business needs. The Division is also responsible for the implementation of common administrative services across the portfolio, facilities management and managing the current and future accommodation of departmental staff.

Property Branch (Property) facilitates the planning, procurement, leasing and management of office and residential accommodation in Australia and overseas for the Department. This includes capital works infrastructure and the onshore Immigration Detention Network. Except for offshore detention, Property is responsible for properties worldwide including office accommodation, airport and seaport leasing, operational facilities, facilities management, spatial management, residential accommodation and property shared services. Property also manages the Whole of Australian Government contract with Property Service Provider, Jones Lang LaSalle, for onshore property requirements.

**About the roles**:
We are seeking APS6 officers to fill several positions within Property. Positions are available in the below Property Sections:

- Facilities Management (SA & ACT)
- Spatial Management (ACT)
- Property Projects (ACT).

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Establishing and maintaining a positive work culture in order to achieve quality outcomes when working across various Sections and Division’s within the Department, ABF and Portfolio agencies
- Building and sustaining positive and productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Support the development, implementation and management of facilities management related policies, guidelines and Government initiatives
- Manage key stakeholder relationships, internal and external, to ensure the delivery of services that meet business needs
- Participate in a range of complex property projects for the upkeep of facilities, delivery of spatial management deliverables as well as other projects as required
- Provide leadership to staff, including coaching, mentoring and capability development.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:

- Demonstrated skills and experience, or demonstration of an ability to quickly acquire skills, relevant to facilities management or policy and governance
- Possess sound stakeholder management skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to deal with politically charged stakeholders
- Strong workload management skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads, achieve results, and meet tight deadlines while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in difficult situations
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills to a vast range of audiences, with a strong focus on client service
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to collaboratively develop and maintain strong working relationships
- Sound decision-making skills that are based on professional judgement and evaluating risks whilst exercising autonomy.
- Desirable:_
- Familiarity with or the ability to learn Government property related frameworks
- A formal qualification in contract management would be highly regarded
- A background in property related functions.
