El 1 (S&t Level 5) - Technology and Concepts
1 day ago
$108,195 - $122,044 (plus Super)
- Edinburgh - SA
**The Role**
Rapid technological advances in fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous systems, quantum computing, directed energy, hypersonics, precision weaponry, power sources and signature management are challenging traditional Army warfighting concepts. In this role you will guide the development of novel concepts for the exploitation of technology as applied to the land force using a range of methods including problem definition and contextualisation techniques, technology characterisation methods, and systemic design.
You will:
- Conduct analysis of the land force future operating environment.
- Review new and emerging technologies relevant to the land domain.
- Develop, model and analyse alternative land force concepts, designs and structures, in collaboration with DSTG technologists, ADF, academia and industry.
- Design and lead concept development studies.
- Maintain currency in S&T disciplines relevant to the position, in particular systemic design and design thinking, improving on these techniques as required.
- Deliver high quality scientific reporting including briefs, publications and presentations.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
**About our Team**
We employ a range of systemic design, design thinking, conceptual modelling, optimisation, mathematical modelling and multi-criteria decision making techniques to discover, understand and evaluate innovative future concepts, capabilities and force structures.
LDA consists of two teams. Concepts & Design discipline designs innovative future concepts, capability systems and force structures through a range of contextualisation, systemic design and design thinking techniques. Mathematical Decision Analysis assists in the creation of designs and capabilities through the evaluation of their outcomes, using mathematical modelling, multi-criteria decision analysis and simulation.
Our work reaches out extensively to other teams as our techniques have interdependencies with both wargaming and simulation. We also collaborate across DST, ADF, academia and industry to leverage their expertise and provide warfighting context to technology development.
You will have a broad knowledge of the land force future operating environment, along with relevant technologies, concepts and trends. You may also have relevant skills or experience that is transferrable to understanding the land operations domain.
You will be able to work autonomously in the conception of research problems and choice of methods and be accountable for management of resources and delivery of outcomes.
