**The Role**
The Science and Technology (S&T) Publications Officer is responsible for assisting in communicating the research outcomes of the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) to the rest of Defence, industry, academia and the broader S&T community.
The S&T Publications Officer is required to work under limited direction to undertake S&T publication activities and tasks, primarily editing, proofreading and publishing DSTG’s scientific and technical reports.
Duties include:
- Editing and publishing scientific reports and other communication materials
- Interpreting, complying with and advising on legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks
- Operating electronic records management and workflow tools
- Providing administrative support to the publications team and ensuring deadlines are met
- Liaising with scientific staff and providing guidance and training to DSTG authors
**About our Team**
Defence Science Communications (DSC) supports the communication and engagement requirements of DSTG.
As a team of trusted communication experts, DSC partners with internal and external stakeholders to deliver dynamic and engaging communication and engagement activities that enable collaboration, shape attitudes, build relationships and promote trust in Defence.
The DSC team is responsible for a wide range of communication and engagement functions including:
- Corporate communication
- Science communication
- Internal communications
- Visits, events and awards
- Digital communication
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and are comfortable liaising with scientific staff and contractors, providing guidance and training to DSTG authors and delivering a high level of client service.
Have the proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
