The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences is a large, collaborative and multi-disciplinary school in the Faculty of Science at the University of New South Wales with over 150 academic, research and professional staff. In 2021, the school obtained $19M in research funding, produced over 950 scientific publications and was rated in the top four schools across UNSW in the 2021 student experience surveys. The School incorporates a broad range of disciplines, enabling comprehensive education and research in the broad fields of Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Climate Science, Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Marine Science.

The Business Improvement Project Officer
- Digital will be responsible for driving business improvement initiatives across the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) and providing effective digital strategy and project management support.

**About the role**

The role of Business Improvement Project Officer - Digital reports to the School Manager and has no direct reports.

**Specific responsibilities for this role include**:

- Develop and manage digital communication strategy for the Schools, driving the delivery of School based digital and other operational projects and programs to achieve innovation and strategic goals.
- Drive business improvement initiatives, projects and programs including reporting on the impact of change on the operations of the business and staff.
- Build and maintain relationships and networks with staff and stakeholders to achieve a collaborative environment that prospers an engaged and co-operative approach to projects.
- Develop and manage digital infrastructure to support process improvement and strategic initiatives within the Schools.
- Provide training and support on various digital platforms and techniques to stakeholders within the Schools.
- Identify, allocate and coordinate project resources.
- Analyse and report on the effectiveness of projects through development and delivery of progress reports ensuring that projects are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope.
- Oversee digital and office operations, providing superior support to the School executive including both technical and administrative support.
- Integrate information from various online platforms and sources to draft documents and correspondence for the School executive.
- Provide any other digital and/or operational support as determined and directed by the School.

**(Selection Criteria)**

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through another combination of education, training and experience.
- Previous experience with digital platforms such as SharePoint, Power Automate and Microsoft Forms with demonstrated capabilities.
- Proven ability to implement, manage and advise on local digital communication strategies.
- Proven ability to deliver digital training and support to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated project management experience, successfully delivering projects within agreed timeframes and budget.
- Relevant experience undertaking business analysis and identifying opportunities to improve business processes and outcomes.
- Sound knowledge of business and process improvement methodologies and demonstrated experience in implementing projects and programs including the ability to identify and address the impact of change on staff.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate with and influence diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional time management, office management and organisational skills, ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Proven ability to allocate and delegate tasks as required (if relevant).
- Demonstrated initiative, sound analytical and problem-solving skills and proven experience in business improvement activities.
