The Product Development Officer’s role operates within the National Research and Development Laboratory (NRDL) for Downer’s Transport and Infrastructure Services Division. You will support the Senior Technical Officer and National Manager R&D to deliver research projects plus asphalt design and testing work for our national business.

The NRDL is Downer’s flagship laboratory, supporting R&D and consulting to a business that builds and maintains over 30,000km of roads nationally. We pride ourselves as leaders in the industry for innovation, technology and sustainability evidenced by initiatives such as our Recycled Toner modified roads. This will be an excellent opportunity to contribute to furthering innovation and fostering change in the industry that we operate in.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Tertiary Qualification in Science, Engineering or Materials (Background in Pavement Materials or Asphalt favourable).
- Knowledge and experience in one of the following technology areas is desirable; Bituminous Binders, Asphalt Design, Pavement Engineering.
- Demonstrable and successful experience working in a Civil Engineering Technology Laboratory environment and quality system, preferably a NATA accredited facility is required.
- Experience in researching and understanding complex information to develop and implement technical solutions.
- A flair for problem solving and formulating solutions.
- Strong safety focus - actively participate in and support Downer Zero Harm initiatives and strategies.
