**The Role**
Reporting to the Director Local Jobs Performance and Insights, the Assistant Director will lead a small team to deliver a work program of complex data-centric projects to inform the operation of the Local Jobs Program, including regular program reporting, performance monitoring, strategic projects, and ad hoc data requests.
You will work collaboratively with staff across the Branch and Division to coordinate and disseminate Local Jobs Program intelligence and insights to support executive, the Minister’s Office, and other stakeholders to inform policy and program considerations. The Assistant Director role will also work closely with Jobs and Skills Australia to develop and disseminate local labour market data, including on skills and labour needs for each region and optimise the functionality of reporting tools to support the Local Jobs Program.
**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking an individual with the following skills and capabilities:
- Experience in leading and mentoring a small team working in data specialist roles.
- Experience in producing timely reports and data insights to inform policy development and/or program outcomes.
- Ability to communicate data insights effectively to a diverse range of audiences.
- Experience extracting and manipulating data for reporting and analysis using SQL Server and creating visualisations using tools such as PowerBI, Qlik Sense or Tableau.
- Ability to work flexibly and responsively to rapidly changing priorities and issues as needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to foster productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 4 months.
