**The Role**
The Assistant Director, Rehabilitation, reports to the Director of the Performance and Wellbeing Team, which is part of an energetic and busy People Branch responsible for delivering strategic and client focussed human resource services. Working in accordance with relevant legislation and agency procedures, the Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the rehabilitation of injured or ill employees (compensable and non-compensable matters) to ensure a safe and durable return to work.
In addition to filling a vacant position, the department intends to create a merit list for use in the event of a vacancy for similar role/s.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the Assistance Director may include:
- Lead and manage the Rehabilitation Case Management team to deliver excellent services and achieve the best possible outcome for the department.
- Ensure the department’s Rehabilitation Management System (RMS) remains compliant with the relevant regulatory framework.
- Working closely with the leadership team across People Branch and contribute to cross function reporting as required.
- Using excellent communication skills and well-developed liaison, negotiation and representational skills to build productive relationships with employees, managers and external stakeholders including Comcare, medical professionals and rehabilitation providers.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement of injury management and other relevant procedures, processes and strategies and provide high level service delivery.
- Attend regular network forums with Comcare/ORAMS and other agencies.
- Ensure Case managers receive clear direction, coaching, training, and support in their case management.
- Promote Early Intervention awareness and provide training across the department as required.
- Drafting complex correspondence including instructions for independent medical assessments, reports, executive briefings and other high level written correspondence.
