Museums of History NSW (MHNSW) brings together the Sydney Living Museums (SLM) and certain functions of the State Archives and Records Authority of NSW (SARA).

The newly created MHNSW is the first Cultural Institution in NSW with history as its core focus - collecting, managing, preserving, and providing public access through one entry point, MHNSW to government archives, objects, materials, buildings, places and stories that shape the historic, social, political and cultural identity of NSW.

**About the Role**

The Chief Executive will strategically plan and direct the activities to implement the government’s vision for the Museums of History NSW, while managing complex interfaces, relationships and governance to achieve efficient, effective and sustainable operational outcomes and optimised public value and benefit.

The CEO’s role will be to provide strategic direction and drive a culture across a substantial and diverse workforce to ensure access and engagement with the extensive portfolio of assets and collections to drive value and a return on NSW’s key cultural assets.

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will need to bring in depth expertise in leading cultural institutions and major cultural infrastructure projects.

Demonstrated ability in diplomacy and judgement to provide sound advice to stakeholders across a wide range of complex and politically sensitive issues is key.

Your vision and passion for the importance of access to culture for all people will drive the vision and bring to life the strategy of MHNSW.

You will demonstrate outstanding leadership, exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills, and be a proven collaborator, with the credibility and authority to act as a trusted advisor across government. High level commercial acumen, supported by deep research, analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking skills will be essential.
