About the role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), working in partnership with the President and Executive Committee members. The CEO oversees all ANZAED functions.

About the role:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) oversees all ANZAED functions, including programs, financial management, staffing, performance, and strategy.
Working in partnership with the President and Executive Committee members, you will:
- Ensure that ANZAED develops and implements programs and membership benefits that support the Executive Committee’s vision for the organisation and are consistent with its strategic plans, priorities, and initiatives.
- Lead by example in inspiring direction and purpose and building an engaged, valued, supported and productive workforce.
- Lead the staff and volunteers in ensuring high-quality and innovative delivery of membership benefits, credentialing, and other workforce development programs.
- Identify and lead the right change processes for the organisation and its membership and ensure organisational structures and systems are aligned to support and embed change
- Build and maintain a wide network of productive relationships with other eating disorder, health, and professional organisations and agencies to help ANZAED achieve its priorities and goals.
- Define and balance current priorities with long range requirements of membership, committees, and staff.
- Manage the day-to-day operations to achieve optimum outcomes with effective use of resources for long-term and sustainable organisational health.
About you:
This role requires a broad range of skills to work with the Executive Committee to create and implement the next strategic plan and transform the performance of this membership-based organisation.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in business, management, finance, strategy or similar relevant areas.
- Proven track record in a senior leadership-related field such as health, non-profit organisations, professional associations, or professional education
- Demonstrated experience in leading change-focused strategic and business planning processes
- Experience engaging with governments and organisations to influence policy and practice
- Experience in managing risk relevant to the core business
- Proven track record in managing staff performance
- Knowledge and awareness of eating disorders, the impact they have, and the changes and forces that influence the eating disorder workforce
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to listen, engage, negotiate, and influence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent people skills with the ability to engage, network and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- An understanding of what it means to communicate safely and responsibly when talking about mental health, eating disorders and suicide.
