About the Role
- Using your lived/living experience of mental health issues, model recovery strategies to enable the assessment, intervention and referral of consumers admitted to an acute adult inpatient ward.
- Provide consumers with education, information, referrals and support from personal experience of recovery and of utilising mental health services and non-government agencies within an inpatient setting.
- Develop innovative and creative opportunities to increase the engagement of consumers across the service, thereby improving the outcomes for consumers, carers, families, staff and community.
- Provide direct peer support to consumers to build their capacity for independence, by engaging in individual and group peer support, advocacy and education activities.
- Serve as a positive role model to consumers, carers, families and staff and a source of information and knowledge from a lived/living experience perspective of managing personal mental health.
