About the Role
- Actively promote person-centred care with consumers, carers, families, staff and community as partners of care. Drawing on mutual resources as peers and utilising a range of recovery tools, techniques and experience, support consumers to identify their own achievable and meaningful recovery goals, and with planning to make positive changes to achieve these. - Model personal recovery, self-awareness, self-belief, self-advocacy and hopefulness by sharing your own story of recovery to inspire and instil confidence in others. Guide and mentor peer workers in line with the principles and values of peer work. Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a person who has a personal lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use issues. By definition, a person who does not have a personal lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use issues cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of a lived/living experience identified role.
