About the role
The Advanced Peer Worker working under general direction will facilitate the development, planning and delivery of support services to consumers at The Park Centre for Mental Health and The Adult Acute Unit at Ipswich Hospital.
About you
- Demonstrated knowledge of recovery principles and strength-based approach in working with consumers who have mental health issues.
- Demonstrated well developed communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries
- Demonstrated skills in computer literacy.
- Demonstrated ability to work within timeframes and deliver on work commitments
- Demonstrate an ability to advocate for the consumer perspective to identify service improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to share lived experience of recovery to assist consumers and staff within the role.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
**The essential requirements for this role are**:
- A personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery and ability to advocate for and support people experiencing mental illness.
- A previous service user of mental health services and experience as a mental health consumer (public or private)
**Highly desirable requirements for the role include**:
- Applicants hold or are working towards a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent.
- Experience working within a public mental health service.
- Experiencing in service improvement activities and initiatives
