With over 850 dedicated individuals giving their time and compassion, our volunteer services plays a vital role in supporting the people we care for. Volunteering at HammondCare is not just about giving back - it’s about being part of something bigger, helping to build a more connected and caring community.

The role of Volunteer Coordinator plays a critical leadership role in developing, managing, and enhancing our Homecare volunteering programme in Melbourne. This position ensures that volunteer service aligns with HammondCare’s mission and strategic priorities while recruiting, onboarding and supporting volunteers.

**_This is a permanent parttime role working 2 days per week or 3 shorter days (one day must be a Wednesday) based at Footscray with hybrid opportunities. _**

**Key Responsibilities include**

**_Volunteer Management & Oversight _**
- Oversee recruitment, training, and ongoing support of volunteers
- Implement volunteer engagement strategies to improve retention and satisfaction
- Facilitate professional development and mentoring opportunities for volunteers
- Provide expert advice to local teams on volunteer engagement and best practices
- Develop and evaluate volunteer service workforce plans to enhance service delivery and impact
- Ensure volunteers receive appropriate supervision and feedback to maintain service standards
- Coordinate biannual volunteer events such as National Volunteers Week and Christmas

**_Stakeholder Engagement _**
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to expand volunteer services.
- Work closely with managers, pastoral care teams, and healthcare professionals to integrate volunteer support
- Represent HammondCare in sector networks, forums, and community engagement initiatives
- Communicate with patients/residents/clients to identify their needs for volunteer engagement

**_Operational Excellence & Service Delivery _**
- Oversee data management systems to track volunteer participation and impact.
- Monitor and evaluate service effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance volunteer contributions to residents, patients, client care.

**About You**
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- Experience in volunteer coordination or program management in healthcare, aged care, or community services
- Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and develop a team and effectively work with other staff
- High-level administrative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and Database Management
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Passion for working in aged care or health (I think this is a must) is desirable
- Empathic and compassionate
- Strong knowledge of volunteer management principles, compliance, and risk management - preferred
- Experience in delivering training to volunteers - preferred
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of volunteers - preferred
