We are looking for a Calibration Officer to join our Advisory division, based in Melbourne.
As a Calibration Officer you will be responsible for the calibration, acceptance testing and maintenance of a wide variety of electronic and mechanical instrumentation. In addition, laboratory staff assess new surface instrumentation for use.
The person will be required to operate and maintain calibration systems, use workflow and asset management database systems, prepare written documentation, technical diagrams, and procedures. They will need a high level of oral and written communication skills and be able to work as part of a small team or independently depending on the circumstances.
In the role of Calibration Officer, you will;
Undertake calibration, testing and maintenance of laboratory and field equipment
Liaise with Project Managers, the Laboratory Manager, Inventory Officers and other
Calibration Officers to schedule equipment calibrations to align with rollout schedules and optimise utilisation of laboratory capacity
Collect statistics and undertake data analysis, investigations, evaluations, and report on instrumentation and equipment operational issues
Conduct metrology research, development and/or evaluation and make recommendations in support of proposed changes to metrological observations systems and processes, including siting of new instruments
Document processes, results and studies in the form of procedures, technical reports and work instructions
Design, code, test and document computer programs in support of scientific and operational activities
Participate in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of products and services and the ongoing development, implementation and continual improvement of the quality management systems to achieve and maintain the ongoing certification of compliance with the ISO9001 and ISO17025 quality management standards.
To be successful for the position of Calibration Officer, you will possess experience in the following:
Tertiary qualification in a relevant technical field such as a Physical Science, Instrumentation, Electronics or Engineering
Previous experience working in a Calibration or Testing Laboratory
Understanding of land, marine and/or atmospheric environments and issues related to monitoring and operation in the field
