Calibration Officers are responsible for the calibration, acceptance testing and maintenance of a wide variety of electronic and mechanical meteorological instrumentation. In addition, laboratory staff assess new surface meteorological and hydrological instrumentation for use in the Australian network. Laboratory staff provide technical advice and support to Bureau staff across the country.

The person will be required to operate and maintain calibration systems, use workflow and asset management database systems, prepare written documentation, technical diagrams, and procedures. They will also be involved in data analysis projects supporting the characterisation of instruments as they perform in the field. They will need a high level of oral and written communication skills and be able to work as part of a small team or independently depending on the circumstances.
