**The Opportunity**

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced project management professional who is passionate about transformation, staff development and Portfolio, Program and Project Management (P3M), to join our Transformation Management Office (TMO).

This key leadership position will suit someone who likes working with a considerable degree of independence under broad direction from the Director. The Assistant Director has shared responsibility to build and uplift project management capability across the Agency. They will do this by working alongside or being directly embedded into project teams, to support the planning and delivery of the Agency’s key priority initiatives and ensure quality outcomes are achieved. This includes:

- providing specialist expertise in strategic project planning with the ability to facilitate workshops
- developing key project documentation aligned to the Agency’s wider enterprise portfolio management view
- embedding themselves into a project team and building a strong rapport with key stakeholders and Senior Executive
- fostering a close and collaborative relationship with the data analytics portfolio specialist to ensure effective project data and reporting mechanisms
- contributing to the development of integrated P3M frameworks based on recognised best practice approaches and in the context of the Agency
- identifying strategic insights across Agency initiatives to provide enterprise level cross portfolio planning and risk management
- demonstrating capability and commitment to the continual development of cultural competency.

As the Assistant Director, you will:

- demonstrate project management experience in the end-to-end delivery of programs/projects. Experience in the implementation of policy-based government programs is highly desirable
- have the ability to work under pressure, and deliver under broad direction, in a complex and dynamic environment
- have an understanding of strategic implications, have the ability to prioritise work and rapidly adjust to meet emerging change and uncertainty
- be able to lead and facilitate workshops to identify key dependencies and risks and support the development of integrated planning, schedules and other associated project documentation
- have strong communication skills and the ability to tailor information and messages clearly and confidently, with demonstrated cultural competence. You will understand the audience, anticipating expectations and concerns to approach complex negotiations persuasively, with a clear understanding of delivering an outcome that is mutually beneficial.

**Additional requirements**:

- sound understanding of the principles and methodologies governing successful project management in a fast-paced changing environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

**Desirable**:

- industry recognised project management qualification/certification is desirable.
- experience in translating complex policy into tangible project deliverables is desirable.
