**Division Responsibilities**
The Home and Residential Division is responsible for providing aged care to senior
Australians in the setting that suits their needs and preferences. It is responsible for the
reform work to improve aged care services at home and in residential care.
**Branch Responsibilities**
The Home Support Operations Branch delivers high quality policy and programs with a
wellness and reablement approach that supports eligible Australians to live more
independently in their homes for longer. The Branch works closely with stakeholders on the
ongoing ageing reform agenda to better inform its policies and programs. The Branch also
delivers evidence-based policy, research outcomes, system reforms, initiatives that drive
improvements in assessment performance and quality and meaningful change for
consumers.
**Section Responsibilities**
The Reablement and Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) Policy Section
develops the evidence-based policy that drives the management of the CHSP, Wellness and
Reablement, Informal Carers, the Continence aids Payment Scheme (CAPS) and the National
Continence Program.
CHSP is an entry level tier to aged care and the Australian Government's largest aged care
program, the CHSP currently assists older people across the country to remain living safely
at home and in their communities for as long as they can and wish to do so.
The Section is responsible for developing the policy for the aged care grant program,
working closely with grant managers in the Department of Social Services, undertaking data
and funding analysis, parliamentary and ministerial responsibilities and other Branch
coordination functions as required.
The Section is also responsible for implementing outcomes from the Aged Care Royal
Commission recommendations including coordinating the 2021-22 Informal Carers budget
measure.***
