Working collaboratively as part of the Indigenous Health Division’s Research, Data and Performance Section, the Assistant Director will lead on program management and/or secretariat functions. This strategic role will enable you to drive outcomes that support the department to increase access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to high quality and culturally competent, sustainable health services.

We are looking for officers with diverse relevant experience and excellent personal attributes.

The key duties of the position include:

- leading a small specialist team to develop strategic approaches to evaluation, data use, direct research investments, and manage data requests
- overseeing an existing evaluation contract with Allen and Clarke Consulting
- leading the Department’s monitoring and evaluation agenda through the development of an Indigenous Health Evaluation Framework and accompanying suite of documentation
- managing relationships with the Lowitja Institute, the ABS and the AIHW
- overseeing management of ad hoc data requests
- collaborating with key research and data stakeholders to progress key research and data initiatives
- providing advice to the Indigenous Health Division on the use of data, research and evaluation.
- undertaking the division’s knowledge translation projects
- providing sharp, clear briefs.
