The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill **APS 5 Desktop Support Officer** and **APS 6 Senior Desktop Support Officer** roles in the Operating Systems (OS) Management team within the End User Computing (EUC) Section.

These are ongoing, permanent roles (either full-time or part-time). Flexible working arrangements (including a hybrid model of working from home and the office) apply.

These positions are able to filled in either of the following locations: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.

**About the roles**

Responsibilities of both the APS 5 Desktop Support Officer and APS 6 Senior Desktop Support Officer include some, or all, of the following:

- manage Citrix and Microsoft infrastructure underpinning next generation desktop (NGD) and other services, including on-premise and cloud-based desktop images
- manage, develop, configure and support Microsoft infrastructure and services underpinning Microsoft365 including Office365, Teams, OneDrive and Stream
- lead and implement critical technology changes pertaining to the NGD stack and other EUC services

As a Senior Desktop Support Officer at the APS 6 level, you will also be expected to:

- build and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders and vendors
- share knowledge, experience and skills with fellow EUC staff
- provide technical leadership to the team, educate technical staff, improve processes and mentor junior
staff contribute to strategic planning.

You will be working in ABS’ Security and Infrastructure Branch - join us as we help the ABS navigate an increasingly complex and challenging digital environment. ABS is a key agency in the Australian government’s push for digital services and unlocking the value of data to improve the lives of the Australian people. You will be helping us build, manage and support integrated, secure, and robust solutions while working with ABS (and other government department) stakeholders.

The OS Management team is responsible for provision and management of the ABS’s desktop computing platform, both Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) delivered via Citrix and hosted on Nutanix (on-premise) and a fleet of traditional laptops running Windows 10. Delivery of the ABS Desktop via cloud is an area of ongoing research and is expected to enter production use in the near future. Mobile devices are managed via Citrix XenMobile with a view to moving to Intune-based management for all devices in the medium term.

**What we are looking for (selection criteria)**

You will be expected to have experience in
**some, or all**, of the following:

- experience managing and supporting Citrix Virtual Desktop (XenDesktop)
- experience managing and supporting Microsoft Application Virtualization (AppV, MSIX App Attach) or Citrix Virtual Applications (XenApp)
- experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM, MECM, SCCM)
- experience with managing and supporting Microsoft Intune
- experience with Cloud based infrastructure (Azure, AWS)
- robust troubleshooting and complex technical problem-solving skills
- strong organisational and communication skills.

In addition to the above, as a high performing APS 6 Senior Desktop Support Officer you will also be expected to

have:

- a higher degree of demonstrated technical and leadership capabilities and experience
- coaching/mentoring skills and staff management experience.
