**POSITION TITLE**:Community Projects Coordinator

**Position Objectives**:
- To effectively manage and deliver key community projects and initiatives in accordance with
Council’s policies, procedures and strategic objectives.
- Provide assistance and support to the Manager Community Services to deliver and achieve
the Department and Council’s strategic objectives, and enhance the interest of Council in the
Community.
**Key Responsibilities**:
The Community Projects Coordinator is responsible for:
- Implementing the key activities and actions within Council’s Strategic Plan and other
organisational plans relevant to the Department and position.
- Project and program management and delivery in the areas of health and wellbeing, culture
and heritage, access and inclusion, disability, ageing populations, open space, sport and
recreation, social capital, arts and other projects, as required to deliver Council’s strategic
objectives.
- Ongoing development, coordination and implementation of Council driven projects and
programs, including but not limited to, Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan, Murray Coorong
Trail, Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and other projects, as required.
- Representing Community Services on cross-organisational projects, including but not limited
to, District Action planning, Open Space, Recreation and Public Realm planning,
Reconciliation Action planning, Disability Access and Inclusion planning and other projects and
teams, as required.
- Representing Council on regional groups and networks, including the Murray Coorong Trail
Working Group, Innovative Community Action Networks, Murray Mallee Ageing Taskforce,
Disability Alliance and other networks, as identified.
- Building and maintaining effective and respectful working relationships with staff,
management, Elected Members and the wider community to assist Council in achieving its
strategic objectives.
**Key Responsibilities Cont’d**:
- Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships that support quality outcomes for the
community, including Federal and State Government Departments and other relevant
stakeholders, as required.
- Sourcing and preparing submissions for grants to support Council’s delivery of identified
community building priorities.
- Managing projects and business activities to ensure that all corporate information and records
are captured and managed in the appropriate corporate systems, in accordance with Council’s
Policies and Procedures, Governance and Records Management requirements.
- Other duties within the scope of the position and as directed by the Manager Community
Services and the Director Development & Community.
Within all the Departments:
- Work as part of the team to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Department.
- Liaise with internal and external parties on matters associated with the Department.
Within the Organisation:
- Liaise with other staff on work matters to ensure teamwork is fostered throughout the whole of
the Organisation.
- Create and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management and Elected
Members.
**Requirements of the Position**:
**Qualifications**:
- A tertiary qualification in Community Services, Project Management or similar, or experience
which will demonstrate the ability to undertake the position.
- Department for Human Services Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Vulnerable Person-related clearance.
- Child Safe Environment Certificate (Mandatory Notification equivalent).
- First Aid Certificate.
- Current Class C driver’s licence.
**Experience**:
- Demonstrated experience in Community Services program delivery, engagement and
development of community focused programs, preferably in Local Government.
- Demonstrated positive leadership and management experience, with the ability to support and
encourage staff to reach their full potential.
- Extensive experience in the project management and delivery of community development and
place-based projects.
- Demonstrated experience in working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander peoples, and other community based groups and organisations.
- Experience in establishing and coordinating innovative methods of service delivery.
