**POSITION TITLE**:Community Facilities Team Leader

**Position Objectives**:

- To effectively manage key community facilities and deliver programs, projects and initiatives in

accordance with Council’s policies, procedures and strategic objectives.
- Provide assistance and support to the Manager Community Services to deliver and achieve

the Department and Council’s strategic objectives, and enhance the interest of Council in the
Community.

The key focus areas for the Community Facilities Team Leader are:
- Capacity building of our residents to create strong vibrant communities.
- The development and implementation of management models for community facilities.
- The development and implementation of a regional coordination service delivery approach.
- Advocacy and coordination of increased service provision in the region.
- Capacity building for community groups.
- Management of sport and recreation centres.
- Program and project coordination.

**Key Responsibilities**:
The Community Facilities Team Leader is responsible for:

- Implementing the key activities and actions within Council’s Strategic Plan and other

organisational plans relevant to the Department and position.
- Ongoing development, coordination and implementation of Council’s community facilities,

projects and programs, including but not limited to, Mid Murray Libraries, Mannum Leisure
Centre, Morgan & Blanchetown Hubs, Mannum Institute, sport and recreation and other
projects, as required.

**Key Responsibilities Cont’d**:

- Building and maintaining effective and respectful working relationships with staff,

management, Elected Members and the wider community to assist Council in achieving its
strategic objectives.
- Representing Council on regional level networks, Mid Murray Family Connections, Suicide

Prevention Network, Integrated Murraylands Physical Activity Committee and other networks,
as identified.
- Providing leadership by coordinating and managing the Community Facilities Team in a

manner consistent with the following statements:

- Effectively communicate and consult with team members to ensure team awareness of

community issues and organisational direction as articulated in relevant plans, policies and
strategies.
- Provide direction, support and empowerment to team members to make appropriate

decisions and act accordingly.
- Encourage staff to maximise potential through the provision of developmental opportunities

and appropriate coaching and mentoring relationships.
- Provide strategic leadership by establishing a strong context and framework for team

members.
- Promote and model the values of the organisation and demonstrate a commitment to

ethical management by fostering a transparent culture of decision making.
- Community development projects and programs, including those with a focus on people

experiencing socio-economic disadvantage, children and families, youth, sport and
recreation, ageing communities, disability and health.
- Services and programs that increase the capacity of our sporting and community facilities to

meet legislative requirements, manage daily operations and plan for the future.
- Relationships and initiatives which provide opportunities for improved childhood

development.
- Ongoing development and implementation of projects and programs, in particular those that

increase opportunities for nutrition and the physical activity of our residents.
- Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships that support quality outcomes for the

community, including Federal and State Government Departments and other relevant
stakeholders, as required.
- Sourcing and preparing submissions for grants to support Council’s delivery of identified

community building priorities.
- Managing projects and business activities to ensure that all corporate information and records

are captured and managed in the appropriate corporate systems, in accordance with Council’s
Policies and Procedures, Governance and Records Management requirements.
- Other duties within the scope of the position and as directed by the Manager Community

Services and the Director Development & Community.

Within all the Departments:
- Work as part of the team to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Department.
- Liaise with internal and external parties on matters associated with the Department.

the Organisation.
