**The Role**
Defence is looking for an energetic Social Media Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced and challenging environment. As a Social Media Specialist, you will work both independently and collaboratively to support Defence’s strategic communication objectives and outcomes. The role requires efficiency, effectiveness and the ability to adapt to changing priorities, reflecting the responsibilities and expectations of an APS 5-level professional within the organisation.

Key duties/responsibilities include:

- Plan, write and schedule content in line with communication strategies.
- Manage social media account spreadsheets in line with reporting needs.
- Complete community management tasks and respond to policy enquiries.
- Analyse performance data to deliver quality campaign insights.
- Contribute to the development of operational dashboards.
- Provide out-of-hours support on a rostered basis, as required.

**About our Team**
The Defence Social Media Hub within the Defence News Bureau (DNB) is responsible for:

- Whole-of-Defence social media strategy, policy, process, training, content guidance, crisis management, reputational analysis, technical support, and account consolidation;
- Data analysis and content creation and management for the Department of Defence and Chief of the Defence Force accounts;
- Maintaining the whole-of-Defence Social Media Playbook and relevant guides; and
- Coordinating the Defence Social Media Working Group.

The DNB sits within the Media and Information Disclosure (MID) Branch that is responsible for day-to-day media operations across Defence. MID Branch brings together media and communication operations to ensure the department’s messaging is clear, consistent and up to the expected standards. Experience or understanding of social media tools, collection management systems, and digital asset management systems is highly advantageous.
