**Salary: Band 5 - $75,511 - $87,624 + superannuation**

The Youth Development Officer has a portfolio of wellbeing and capacity, which focuses on wellbeing and capacity building outcomes for young people and their stakeholders.

Council’s Youth Services unit is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced, enthusiastic youth work specialist to join our team to contribute to building resilience in young people across Hobsons Bay. This is a temporary role until December 2025.

The Youth Development Officer - Wellbeing and Capacity is a vital role within the youth development team, and the broader youth services unit. The role is responsible for contributing to the cohesive delivery of generalist programs, events and activities and carries the portfolio of health, wellbeing and capacity building service responses for young people and stakeholders.

**We are looking for**

We are looking for an experienced youth services professional committed to designing and delivering programs and services for local Hobsons Bay young people, as part of a dynamic and motivated team and in collaboration with other stakeholders. The Youth Development Officer has a portfolio of wellbeing and capacity, which focuses on wellbeing and capacity building out comes for young people, with specific deliverables in career and employment support and initiatives and engagement of young adults aged 18-25 years.

**What you’ll be working on**
- Run programs and services within a busy and high performing youth development team and within a multi-disciplinary youth services unit
- Lead the portfolio of wellbeing and capacity service responses for young people across Hobsons Bay, responding to known and emerging needs
- Design, deliver and evaluate programs for young people that are targeted, purposeful and engaging, with a particular focus on initiatives and outcomes for 18-25 year olds
- Create employment and career programs responsive t o t he needs of local young people to help them explore their pathways and career, and gain skills to get a job
- Build partnerships, facilitate training and engage stakeholders both internally and externally for the benefit of young people

**What you need to succeed**
- Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work or similar and a qualification or training in Alcohol & Other Drugs is desirable.
- Basic requirements include Current Victorian Driver License, current Working with Children check, and First Aid with updated CPR.
- A Police Check will be conducted prior to commencement.
- Strong communication, planning and scheduling skills to ensure service continuity and reliability, which includes participating in a high performing team to ensure the service standards and reputation is maintained
- Passion for working directly with young people and a high motivation to deliver and participate in program and service delivery on a regular basis, which requires flexible hours including evenings and may include occasional weekends.
