The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The ABF College designs, develops, delivers and evaluates national training programs to ensure frontline ABF officers develop and maintain the right skills to do their jobs lawfully, safely and effectively. This includes:

- Analyzing learning needs for the ABF;
- Designing and developing fit for purpose, often complex adult learning solutions;
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders throughout the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE) cycle to gain all relevant governance and legal approvals required for the implementation and maintenance of training packages;
- Evaluating delivery and learning packages in line with governance frameworks;
- Quality assurance, maintenance and ongoing review of existing packages and
- Administrative functions in SuccessFactors, the Department’s learning management system (LMS).

**About the role**:
As a learning and development team leader, Inspectors are responsible for the management and delivery of learning projects using the ADDIE model, from initial request through to evaluation and maintenance. They are experienced communicators who are passionate about learning and committed to the continuing development of the ABF Workforce.

A permanent vacancy exists in our Canberra office, with a 12 month vacancy available in our Perth office. This recruitment round may be used to fill potential future vacancies in our Brisbane and Melbourne office.

The ABF College is seeking learning and development professionals who:

- Has a strong background in designing, developing or evaluating learning programs;
- Can work effectively in a national team;
- Has experience leading and managing teams
- Has experience with rapid authoring elearn tools, ie Articulate software
- Has experience working in a Learning Management System (LMS), ie SuccessFactors

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Undertake a leadership, project management and quality assurance role in the analysis, design, development, review and continual improvement of training material, curriculum content and learning outcomes for competency-based training and assessment;
- Build, support and maintain complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders to scope and address training development needs;
- Coordinate delivery of critical training products within agreed timelines.
- Manage, develop and provide input into reports, briefs, submissions and talking points in line with business requirements; and
- Lead and inspire effective teams, provide direction and guidance, addressing staffing matters early and managing performance issues.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or the ability to obtain one;
