The Assistant Business Manager (ABM) plays a pivotal role in the finance and administration team, contributing to Balwyn High School's commitment to operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Business Manager, the ABM ensures the smooth functioning of finance, human resources, and administrative processes while supporting the professional development of junior staff. This role provides a pathway to becoming a Business Manager (BM), with ongoing training and opportunities for career growth.

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Finance Management**
- Oversee accounts receivable and/or payable in a high-volume environment.
- Manage parent payments via Compass, including establishing payment plans, processing credit notes/refunds, and issuing refunds in CASES21.
- Liaise with teaching staff to track, update, and communicate information about excursions, camps, music program, and other events.
- Prepare financial reports, including Reconciliation/Profit and Loss Statements for excursions and fundraising activities.
- Assist parents, staff, and students with payment-related inquiries.
- Drive process improvements, such as reducing paper use and enhancing Excel-based workflows.

**2. Human Resources Administration**
- Manage personnel files, recruitment support, and compliance for VIT and WWCC.
- Oversee payroll processes in eduPay, including timesheets, allowances, and time-in-lieu requests.
- Monitor and process staff leave requests per DET and school policies.
- Support onboarding processes and contribute to reviews of HR policies and procedures.

**3. Team Collaboration and Leadership**
- Mentor less experienced staff by providing training in DET systems and school processes
- Foster a collaborative team culture through knowledge-sharing and professional development initiatives.

**4. General Administrative Support**
- Support Reception and First Aid Office functions as needed.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Business Manager or Principal.

**Desirable Qualifications**:
Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or related fields.
