The Litigation and Advice Branch undertakes DVA’s legal advising and litigation functions, including advising on highly complex and significant issues, initiatives and work programs, some or all of which have strategic, political and operational significance.

**Duties**
- Deliver high quality legal services that meet client expectations, taking into consideration legal and non-legal risk.
- Prepare and review legal document under supervision
- Develop and maintain client relationships and promote the General Counsel Division as DVA’s trusted advisors.
- Further develop professional legal expertise, by participating in cross-training and education opportunities, and meeting Continuing Legal Education.
- Support leadership through promoting a positive working environment within the Team and Branch, and contributing to cooperate leadership activities.

**Eligibility**
- Must have a Bachelor of Laws degree (or equivalent) from a recognised Australian university.
- Must be an Australian citizen.

**Notes**

This recruitment process is being used to fill an ongoing position.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 18 months. A specified term may be extended up to a maximum period of 3 years.
