**About the Role and You

This is a unique opportunity to join QCS in a dual role, reporting as General Counsel to the Commissioner, and as Assistant Commissioner, Policy and Legal to the Deputy Commissioner, Workforce Culture, Integrity and Capability. This role is critical in providing legal, policy and governance leadership across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:
Oversee legal services, including complex litigation, statutory interpretation, and legal risk management in areas such as human rights, employment law and corrections legislation.
Coordinate and deliver QCS's legislative program to ensure the department's operations are supported by a modern legislative framework.
Ensure compliance with legislative and operational standards through the development, implementation and review of operational policies and procedures.
Lead a transformative agenda, reshaping service delivery, embedding new systems and creating a culture of collaboration and client focus.
Establish robust governance frameworks to manage Right to Information (RTI), privacy obligations and organisational risk.
Inspire a highly skilled team of 55 professionals across three directorates, fostering a high-performance culture and equipping the team to meet the challenges of a dynamic and complex environment.

This is an opportunity to influence significant reform within the Queensland criminal justice system. With a focus on enabling transformation, this role will challenge you to navigate a complex, high-risk environment while delivering meaningful outcomes.

You will work within a supportive leadership team, driven by shared values of acting ethically, professionally and respectfully whilst delivering service excellence.

We are seeking a strategic and reform-focused leader with proven ability to navigate complex legal and operational challenges. You will thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments and bring a collaborative, client-focused approach to service delivery; working through large, multidisciplinary teams.
