The main role of the Software Automation Manager is to manage the Software Development Team and also to actively develop and maintain manufacturing equipment software for use in the production of optical devices for the telecommunications industry.

**Key responsibilities**
- Manage and lead a team of LabVIEW software development engineers
- Develop software to control automated equipment and test systems used in the manufacture of WSS modules with particular emphasis to the WSS Alignment Rigs
- Maintain and upgrade software used for in-process testing of WSS optical modules
- Contribute to the development of software specifications for production equipment
- Liaise with suppliers of OEM equipment to understand the operation and interfaces of their equipment. i.e. software drivers and settings to enable the combined components to work seamlessly as a constructed/coordinated rig
- Develop software for key production equipment sourced from other Finisar locations
- Assist in the training of junior software staff in advanced LabVIEW techniques

**Essential skills and experience**
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people in all levels of the organisation
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong technical ability in the use of NI’s LabVIEW with greater than 10 years experience in programming in this environment
- Experience in developing software for precision motion control systems and interfacing to instrumentation
- Strong analytical skills with experience in signal processing or mathematical analysis

**Desirable skills and experience**
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
- Experience in programming and selection of vision systems.
- Experience in programming with LabVIEW 2020 or later versions
- Experience working in a high technology manufacturing environment
- Understanding and some experience in object oriented programming approach
