Finisar Australia is seeking a talented Electrical and Controls Team Lead to join our team in Sydney.

**Here’s what you’ll do at Finisar**:

- Lead a small team to design and program control systems for innovative equipment to manufacture cutting-edge optical communications devices
- Integrate high-tech components such as precision manipulators, optical instruments, robots, lasers, and cameras
- Achieve assembly accuracies down to micron level
- Collaborate with R&D and NPI to bring new product developments to life
- Upgrade existing equipment to improve yield and throughput.

**What we are looking for**:
Essential:

- At least 10 years’ experience with automation and control systems design and implementation;
- Ability to lead the controls development of large projects including the coordination of other electrical and control engineers;
- Excellent knowledge of using best practice software development practices such as source control, CI/CD, TDD, OOP, etc.;
- Excellent knowledge of industrial fieldbuses for machine control (E.g. ADS, Ethernet IP, TCP/IP, Serial, EtherCAT, ProfiNET, etc);
- Excellent understanding of Australian machinery standards (AS4024), functional safety standards and other relevant standards and regulations;
- Strong knowledge of Electrical panel/cabinet layout and wiring to AS60204-1, AS3000;
- Ability to perform safety calculations for safety control circuits;
- Ability to lead and manage a small team of electrical and controls engineers, while working closely with other engineering teams
- Bachelor’s Degree in software, electrical or mechatronics engineering;
Desirable:

- Experience with CAD modelling software - mechanical and electrical schematics
- Experience using Beckhoff TwinCAT3 and TwinSAFE PLC development environments for machine control systems
- Experience using EtherCAT industrial field bus
