**About the role**:
As the **Head of Strategy,**you will be responsible for shaping and executing Nova Systems’ strategic direction, corporate planning, reporting, and market positioning to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term success. Reporting to our Deputy Chief Executive Officer, you will play a critical part in ensuring the successful implementation of the recently articulated Nova 2030 Strategy, aligning business priorities, identifying new opportunities, and optimising organisational performance.
You will lead enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, provide insight-driven recommendations to the executive leadership team and the Nova board, and ensure our organisation remains agile in a rapidly evolving market. You will also oversee strategic projects, business transformation efforts, and investment priorities, reinforcing our organisation’s ambition to be a global systems innovator, dedicated to making our world safe and secure.
The position is primarily responsible for:
- **Strategic Leadership and Execution**: Lead the strategic planning and governance of the 2030 Strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and market dynamics.
- **Business Transformation and Organisational Performance**: Identify and lead strategic transformation initiatives, enhance operational effectiveness, organisational maturity, and financial sustainability.
- **Investment and Growth Strategy**: Lead the development and execution of the enterprise’s inorganic business plan that complements the organic business plan required to achieve the 2030 Strategy.
- **Enterprise Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement**: Foster a collaborative, enterprise-wide mindset, ensuring alignment across corporate functions, business units, and strategic initiatives.
- **People Engagement**: Lead, mentor, and develop the Strategy Team to achieve a high-performing and engaged workforce.
Please note: Interstate and occasional international travel will be required in this position.

- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including expertise in investment analysis, financial modelling, and risk assessment to inform executive decision-making.
- Deep understanding of market dynamics, including industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging business opportunities.
- Advanced analytical capabilities, leveraging data, insights, and key performance indicators to measure success and refine strategy.
- Ability to assess and manage strategic, financial, and operational risks, ensuring business resilience and sound decision-making.
- Proven track record in aligning business units under a cohesive strategic vision, fostering collaboration and driving organisational success.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers, Board members, and external stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, engineering, finance, economics, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred, and or equivalent experience.
- Australian Citizenship with the ability to hold and maintain an AGSVA security clearance.
