**The Role**
The Directorate of External Legal Services within Defence Legal Division has an opportunity for a suitable qualified and experienced Executive Level 1 to join the team and perform important procurement and contract management activities on behalf of Defence and its associated agencies.

Working with a high degree of independence, you will:

- Conduct procurement and commercial activities and use significant evaluative judgement to make recommendations through all procurement stages including planning, approaching the market, evaluation and contract management.
- Develop and manage complex stakeholder relationships to facilitate cooperation between internal and external competing priorities.
- Participate in negotiations to broker agreements between conflicting agendas whilst maintaining key relationships to enhance business outcomes, and represent the views of the Commonwealth.
- Ensure high levels of compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, in particular the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
- Maintain and update commercial, contracting and procurement records and generate reports on related activities to meet organisational compliance requirements and provide access to information.
- Engage with risk, including the conduct of risk assessments and risk management activities.

**About our Team**
The Legal Services Co-Ordinator role sits within the Directorate of External Legal Services (DELS), which is within the Legal Practice Enablement (LPE) branch of Defence Legal.

The DELS team is broadly tasked with the following:

- Management of approximately $80 million dollars per annum of legal expenditure.
- Facilitation of the procurement of external legal engagements under the Whole of Government Legal Services Panel and other procurement avenues as appropriate.
- Report on legal engagements across Defence and its associated agencies internally to Defence and externally to stakeholders from other government agencies or industry.
- Manage and respond to queries from across Defence and its associated agencies on the engagement and management of external legal services.
- Building and sustaining productive relationships with supervisors, staff and team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.

As a Legal Services Co-Ordinator you will plan and undertake procurement and contract management activities associated with the engagement of external legal services on behalf of Defence and its associated agencies.

You will:

- Have experience in undertaking simple and complex procurements.
- Have a proven ability to communicate with influence and the ability to nurture productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including industry partners.
- Have experience in successfully delivering results within time restraints while balancing priorities.
- Delegate tasks effectively.
- Provide clear direction and articulate parameters.
- Give constructive and timely feedback in a manner that encourages learning and achieves any required resolution.
- Have a NV1 security clearance or ability to obtain one.
