UGL's utilities business undertakes essential design & construction services for critical infrastructure in the power and water sectors. Our end-to-end delivery ranges from transmission lines, switchyards, substations, electrical distribution through to water and wastewater treatment plants and water pipelines.

Our expertise includes the design, construct, commission, operate and maintain where our Utilities Team safely leads and delivers design & construct projects across Australia. Our project delivery extends to include short and long-term contracts either through self-performance works, working with Sub-contractors or through Joint Ventures. Our work spans from the engineering design through to structural, civil, electrical installation works and commissioning.

**The Opportunity**

UGL Utilities team are currently looking for a Commercial Manager - Pre-Contracts to join our team based in either Brisbane or Sydney.

Reporting to the Utilities Senior Commercial Manager, you will be primarily responsible for providing commercial, financial and contractual expertise during the pre-contract stage of the Utilities LOB tenders / projects to ensure that the projects are commercially successful whilst providing governance to the systems and processes to ensure compliance.

Some key responsibilities of this role will include:

- Provide regular, clear briefings, analysis and summaries of complex legal, technical and commercial bid and contract issues for non-specialist audience and executives and offer input into the Utilities Bid Strategies.
- Provide direction on co-ordination & review of legal position and compliance matters, in conjunction with internal UGL legal team (and, external legal advisors, where appropriate)
- Be responsible for negotiation and finalisation of head contract terms and conditions and project risk parameters, consistent with bid risk profile, UGL Tender Policy and risk appetite or prepare and present business cases and rationale for approval to accept risk to Senior Corporate Executives.
- Establish Contract commercial teams and ensure contractual and commercial rights and obligations are clearly communicated to the project delivery team

**About you**
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commerce, or Law or proven commercial experience equivalent
- Extensive experience in reviewing, negotiating, drafting, tendering and finalizing contracts, and administration
- An ability to handle tight deadlines and pressure professionally

Attention to detail and a solution-oriented attitude.
- Strong leadership, people management and communication skills to manage and mentor commercial and project team resources and key management and stakeholder engagement.
