About the role
The Parliamentary Service is restructuring and modernising its HR capability by creating a new People and Culture (P&C) team.
The P&C unit has been recently established as a stand-alone team under the leadership of this newly created role. P&C is entering a phase of enhanced organisational recognition and contribution to strategic and operational outcomes, underpinned by improved processes and enhanced customer engagement practices.
The P&C unit lies within the division for Corporate and Electorate Services and works closely with the Payroll Services team and Finance and Administrative Services team, also within that division.
As the Manager of the new P&C team your primary responsibilities will include:
- To establish, lead and manage the P&C team and function to deliver high quality people and culture advice, tools, frameworks and services that support customer business needs, compliance and contemporary fair practice in people management.
- To engage external service partners to deliver specialist skills or expertise to ensure critical project delivery and/or supplement people and culture capability and capacity as required.
- To lead, manage, develop and motivate a team of people and culture professionals ensuring team safety and wellbeing, capability and capacity to meet customer needs.
- To proactively develop, deliver and support a range of strategic workforce initiatives and priorities, including the new Parliamentary Service Workforce Strategy.
- To contribute to corporate performance and governance by attending meetings of the Executive Management Group.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced P&C leader to build a small team from the ground up, and shape the workforce in a unique high profile organisation. The successful applicant will deal on a day to day basis building relationships with Members of Parliament, staff, and senior executives including the Clerk of the Parliament (as CEO).
