**About - Melbourne Graduate School of Education**
MGSE is a Centre of high impact research and teaching. Home to a number of internationally recognised experts, we are at the cutting edge of teaching and research in our field.
Part of the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus, we are based at 234 Queensberry Street and 100 Leicester Street. Our buildings are designed specifically for graduate education students, offering a range of contemporary learning and social spaces.
Our flagship Master of Teaching is based on a clinical approach to teaching and is a significant shift away from traditional approaches to teacher education. We also offer a range of professional development and higher degree research courses for people working in education and related professions. A large number of significant research projects are based here, and we work closely with local, national and international partners on a wide range of projects across education and related disciplines.
**The REEaCh Centre (Research in Effective Education in Early Childhood)**
The REEaCh Centre was established in 2019 through the generous support of the Leaper Foundation. The purpose of the Centre is to focus on three priorities of research and engagement in early childhood education and care: the **quality** of early childhood education programs, the **equitable participation** of all children in high-quality programs, and the importance of **educational leadership** to sustained quality improvement in early childhood education programs.
Our research is multi-disciplinary and occurs in partnership with early childhood stakeholders to build capacity and provide professional learning around our two research programs:
- _Teacher effectiveness in early childhood education_, with a focus on teacher-child interactions and assessment for learning practices as valuable ways to maximise young children’s learning and development outcomes, and address disparities in child development early in life; and
- _The impact of early childhood education on children’s learning outcomes_, demonstrating the mechanisms (e.g., sufficient quality and intensity) by which early childhood education programs impact children’s learning and development.
