About the job
Playing a lead role in Alcoa’s Australia regional advocacy, this opportunity within our global External Affairs team supports strategic engagement on all operational matters and influences policy for present and future needs.
Reporting to our Director - Government Affairs and located at our HQ in Booragoon you will partner with senior management to provide advanced intelligence, analysis and recommendations on emerging policy and developments of relevance across the Australia and Asia Pacific region, driving positive change and informing strategic decision-making.
Working closely with the Director of Government Affairs, key aspects of the role include:
- Developing and implementing a regional government and stakeholder relations strategy.- Representing and/or supporting senior management participation in association and industry executive boards, events, and high-level fora.- Monitoring and assessing legislative and regulatory environments within the aluminium and mining industries to identify risks and opportunities for the business.- Collaboration with cross-functional teams across different regions in the delivery of the global and local external and government affairs strategy.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
- Qualifications in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Law, or a related field.- Broad experience in government and stakeholders’ relations with a focus on industrial and sustainability policies.- An excellent track record of operating at a senior level within a global or other relevant organisation.- A strong network with Australian policy makers and stakeholder groups and associations, with a robust understanding of the current Australian political, legal and policy landscape at the local, state, and federal level.- High ethical standards of conduct with a professional and assertive demeanour.- A strategic and proactive mindset skilled in tailoring plans and goals to ensure business objectives are optimally achieved.- Ability to effectively lead internal and external audiences to desired outcomes through diplomacy, influence, communication skills and natural leadership.
